Feeding protected fish oil to increase n-3 PUFA of kidney tissue in rams

In recent years awareness of the importance fatty acid composition ruminants meat and milk products has increased, with a particular emphasis on n-3 polyunsaturated acids, for example, eicosapentaenoic (EPA; C20:5 n-3) docosahexaenoic (DHA; C22:6 n-3), as these can have beneficial effects animal performance reduce risk coronary heart disease in humans. The aim this study was to investigate feeding dietary protected fish oil(FO) Green lipped mussel (GLM)on lipid kidney tissue.Twelve Suffolk rams mean age 7.0 months ± 15 days an average live weight 93 (±3.5) kg were divided randomly into four groups 3 per group housed individually.The allocated each foure (FA) sources; Megalac (M), (MGLM), Fish oil (FO) + (FOGLM). Rams offered GLM diets contain higher level n-3(p<0.001) kidneytissue compared diets.In conclusion, GLM, FO FOGLM altered lipids tissue rams.
